Lipomas are generally benign, but rarely they may be soft tissue cancer.
Before the procedure examination and radiological evaluation are required. Generally, they are removed under local anesthesia and sent to pathology to diagnose lipoma. If the result is liposarcoma they should be treated.
Lipoma may reoccur in surrounding tissue if not in the same tissue. For very large lipomas, liposuction or laser lipolysis may be performed. The scar varies depending on the location and the patient as well as the size of the lipoma. Generally, it is easy to remove lipomas restricted with a capsule.
