Aim of Rhinoplasty:
Balance of Shape - Breathing.
Our criteria while determining the shape in rhinoplasty:
It is aimed that the nose is in harmony with other parts of the face. Nose tip height, node - lip angle and curve of dorsum nasi should be adjusted according to the gender.
Parameters leading to positive look and youthfulness should be taken into account. Excess cartilage or bone removal should be avoided as they may affect breathing in a negative way.
In the case that the procedure negatively affects the breathing, procedures for the shape should be stopped. Therefore, structures providing support of the nose can be left even though they are sloping.
Anatomical structures such as nasal valves which are important for breathing should be supported and if necessary, the shape should be pushed in the background.
Philosophy of Rhinoplasty:
Even though there are various techniques in rhinoplasty, there is a common philosophy. Skin, bone, and cartilage are separated from the skeleton. Bone and cartilage skeleton is shaped.
So, any reduction of the skin is not performed except for the base of the nose. The skin is expected to be shaped with the shape of the bone - cartilage skeleton. Therefore, the time of the result and shape are depending on the skin of the patient.
Results are seen very late in very thick skin and formed shaping cannot be seen clearly.
Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty:
Fillers, fat injection, botulinum toxin, and threads are used in nose shaping. Although they are useful in the case of a nasal hump or low nasal tip, they have the disadvantage that they contain foreign materials and that the effect is temporary.
Also, the harmony of the nose with the face (see aim of rhinoplasty) is more important than the shape of the nose. It is clear that fillers will enlarge your nose.
After the filling procedure, when we take a photo of your nose, it will look better but it will be bigger for your face. Just a limited number of patients can be eligible for non-surgical procedures. Non-surgical procedures can be used in combination with the operations.
RHINOPLASTY:
Techniques:
There are basically two methods in rhinoplasty as open and closed. Both techniques have advantages and disadvantages. The proper method is different for each patient.
It is not correct to say that “this method is good for all patients”. There are developments in rhinoplasty. Methods such as combined rhinoplasty, preservation rhinoplasty, left-down, push-down are popularized.
In the selection of the technique, the technique should be given importance, which will correct the shape of the nose of the patient with minimum maneuver, at least disturb the anatomical structures, reduce or even support the breathing, leave no trace if possible, and heal as soon as possible.
Ultrasonic methods also have advantages and disadvantages. It requires opening larger areas to be able to make ultrasonic instruments enter. With the development of the design and materials of classical surgical hand instruments, we can perform the procedures that we cannot perform previously.
Turkish Surgeons have an important role in the development of these hand instruments.
Process of Rhinoplasty:
Nose examination, review of the images and preop evaluation:
It definitely requires a detailed examination. Although, evaluation with images is possible for pre-interview, intranasal evaluation, evaluation of flexibility and structure of the tissue are possible with examination. I do not share photos on our web site and social media. Due to prohibitions applied by the Turkish Medical Association, laws and patient confidentiality.
However, you can see the shape of your nose at the end of the procedure or my results. The results of my patients resembling you are very important. Results of the patients who do not resemble you misguide you.
You can have an idea on the post-op look with the operation results of the patients approved and resembling you after the examination.
